Periodontics

What is periodontics?
Periodontics is the specialty that treats diseases that affect the tissues that surround the tooth: the gum, the bone and the periodontal ligament.

When is periodontics necessary?
There are different degrees of affectation that range from bleeding of the gum due to the accumulation of bacterial plaque (gingivitis), to the loss of bone support that can cause mobility and separation of the teeth (periodontitis). This disease does not usually cause pain, which often goes unnoticed and is diagnosed when the problem is more severe.
